I have nearly finished this little wall hanging, and then as usual because of my impatience I put the border on wrong, got fed up and put it in the drawer, its really sweet and I must unpick and put a new border and backing on it , as you can see I'm not the greatest quilter I seem to get very frustrated at keeping everything square ! I enjoy doing the stitcheries and embellishments but seem to spoil it when it comes to the quilting.
My new mantra I must take a class ...... I must take a class...... I'm sure if I did I would be a lot less disappointed.

  4. Hello Karen! I have friends in Milton Keynes, and my hubby visited them a few years back. By the pictures he took, it looks like a lovely place to live :)
Your wallhanging is very cute. Quilting is not my strong point either, but I am determined to learn, so I keep practicing :)

  8. Lol regarding the teenage mention on my post! Karen, your wall hanging is lovely just as it is. Get it out of that drawer, iron it and hang it!! Until I started blogging in May, all of my stuff went in the drawer, finished and half finished because in my mind it was never good enough. I was always comparing myself unfavourably with others, but our lovely blogging friends are so nice and encouraging that now I have started to value what I make. And I don't care anymore if the odd stitch here or there isn't perfect, the main thing is, it is made with love usually with someone in mind, and that's immeasurable! xx

  9. I think it looks lovely. The thing about handmade stuff is that it isn't precision made by a large machine in a factory somewhere- thats its charm.
I think sometimes we get frustrated because things aren't perfect and we fall out of love with them. I'm sure if you hang it on your wall you'll appreciate its beauty and forget to look at any faults.
In other words- Its PRETTY, Hang it UP!

  10. You sound like me. I had to undo the filler strip sections of my quilt...if it wasn't for my craft classes it would still be sitting in a drawer. Must admit I would love to learn to quilt too. Like us all we tend to see all the faults in our own work...even obvious errors to us...cannot be seen by others. Your work is lovely.

  12. Karen your little quilt is lovely. I love all your stitchery. Dont' be too hard on yourself, we all make those silly mistakes. Sometimes we have to do a little frog stitching (rip-it). I'm sure you would really enjoy a quilting class and learn lots of great tips. Happy Quilting.

  13. Karen, Thanks for visiting my blog and leaving a comment. I think your wall hanging is so very cute. I don't see anything wrong with the border on it. I have learned to be patient when sewing, well sometimes. It takes me quite a while to sew anything. My flying geese you saw on my blog took me about 3 days to sew because I was being very careful. Just take your time and keep a consistent 1/4 seam allowance, and use your iron a lot. Your doing fine, don't get discouraged with it.I am going to bookmark your blog so I can come back.

  14. The wall hanging is super cute! I wouldn't worry about it if it's perfect or not, most of the time people can't tell. Someone told me that if you hang a quilt on the wall and then gallop past it on a horse and still see the mistake, you sould fix it. I love that advice.

  15. Love the wall hanging - it looks straight to me!! I find a little bit of "wonkiness" adds to the charm of stitcheries:) Have a great week, Lisa
